The Napier Hotel, Fitzroy

A strong contender for Melbourne’s Best Looking Pub! – I especially love the glow from the street lighting on the trees in Moor St.

The Retreat Hotel, Abbotsford

Easily one of Melbourne’s best looking pubs, retaining many of the original features. Taken 5:20am on 2 Jan 2021 just before the sun rose. The pub is still lit by the streelights of an empty Nicholson St as the sun is starting to light the clouds.

Auburn Hotel, Hawthorn East

A classic three storey 1880s pub drenched in the yellow glow of the streelights at 5:10am 14 December 2020. The busy Auburn Road is silent as the sun prepares to rise in the distance up Victoria Road.

Burwood Road Bridge, Hawthorn East

Burwood Road Bridge spans the ‘Canyon’ – a deep cutting that carries the railway line from Auburn to Camberwell Station. The tri-coloured lights from the signal gantry and the yellow streetlights create a vibrant effect that is only fully picked up using multiple long exposures. Add in a clear starry night sky – this naturally highly saturated image adds a splash of life to any wall.

Maling Road, Canterbury

What was once Malone’s Family Hotel still stands on Canterbury Road and the corner of Maling Road. The sun has just set over the city at 5:45 pm on Wednesday the 12th August 2020 and the locked down streets are empty. The grey clouds give this photo an almost painted look and the details show off the sharp architectual lines.
