The case of the disappearing van at The Retreat Hotel

Most of the photos on this site take numerous visits as the window of time to shoot them is very limited. Too early and the sky is too dark. Too late and the streetlights are no longer visible. But get it just right and the mix creates a great combination of light

Attempt 1, was just after 5am on Christmas Day – when I thought the road would be pretty empty! – but there was a car parked right outside the front door!

Attempt 2 was too windy, and the striped awning and trees were flapping in the breeze.

Attempt 3 it all came together, but there was a white van parked next door which proved a bit distracting.

I took a photo of the section of fence in front of the van that was obscured by it in the shot…

and through the magic of Photoshop, dropped it in the position where the van was

Adding a splash of colour to Blood Orange

Three of the large 127cm Limited Edition Framed prints are now on display at Blood Orange Café and Foodstore on Burwood Road in Hawthorn East.

After sitting with these on my walls for a few months and refining them it feels good to finally get them out there!
